First look at winter pots for 2012

It's that time of year again....one of my favorites HOLIDAY and WINTER POTS.
For as long as I can remember I've loved to decorate for the seasons at hand, and when I was lucky enough to find clients who loved it as well, well... it was a match made in heaven.
Here's a look at some of my work this season thus far.

After the Holidays are over I will remove most of the Christmasy looking decorations, but leave the evergreens to be enjoyed throughout the winter.
There's nothing worse than seeing a empty container in the winter.

I encourage my clients to leave their containers long after the holidays. Sometimes here in Michigan we don't get a good snowfall until January, that's when the pots look the best.

A look at Detroit Garden Works Winter Scene

It's getting closer and closer to one of my most favorite times of the year...HOLIDAY and WINTER DECORATING season.

What used to be my most favorite garden store just had their winter open house, and as expected the shop is decked out for the up-coming season.

Even though I am no longer an employee, nor shall I ever shop here again, I am still an admire of this place.
I have to admit they do a nice job of decking the halls.

They offer a wide variety of sticks, branches, and evergreens along with garden ornaments and ideas. This I am a fan of.

The insides are always decorated beautifully with vignettes that give you a sense of winter gardens.
Nothing too gaudy, nothing that screams Christmas. Decorate for the season not just the holiday, winter last a while. Celebrate it, I tell my clients.

They do sell unique ornaments of exceptional quality and interest with prices to match.

The displays are creative, you can leave here with lots of decorating ideas. You can borrow these ideas, tweak them, make it work for you, and then make them your own. That's what I do.

Some times I do miss this place, especially during this season. I can still enjoy it from a distance,
I am still an admirer.

A look at Artist Sakir Gokcebag

A look at Sakir Gokcebag's art installations, try saying that three time fast.

Everyday items are transformed into pieces of art . This I think is interesting.

 Shoes and laces
Raw beans

No these are not an altered photos, just the precision knife cutting of a surgeon and precise placement.
Wonderfully artistic. Hope you enjoy.

The last pot.

Well, I tried to run from it, I turned off all the lights and pretended not to be home. I did not answer the door when it was on my front porch. But there was no escaping it........Fall found me.

It came in with it's gaudy fall colors and it's chilly air "YOU CAN'T HIDE" it yelled at me while holding a pumpkin in one hand and a leaf rake in the other. I stood in the corner by the window and cried.

He told me not to worry, " you can still plant a fall pot before my brother winter arrives with his snow and ice, feezing you to the bones"

Cabbages ,Kales and Lettuce love the cooler temperature's. "Secure your purple sticks and your Eucalyptus tight in the un-frozen soil, so my Autumn winds will not shake them loose" he said with a chill in his voice and a smile on his lips.

So I did.

"Get your bulbs planted  for the spring, and your pumpkins carved" he reminded me.

I also gave the lawn a final cut, and raked up some leaves..... I planted my last pot of the year.
He welcomed himself to a cup of coffee and a seat in the kitchen and asked, " what's for Thanksgiving dinner?
