A new look for Jane's (pt.1)

My friend Jane just bought a new house, it was in desperate need of a new landscape design. I was ready for the challenge.  Even though I call myself a Gardner I do sometimes take on landscape projects that I feel I can handle. After all Jane had been a client for sometime, and we were friends.

Jane had an idea for the look of her new house, something more modern with straight lines. Boxwood's, and Hydrangea's were some of her favorites, much like the gardens at her old house. After a couple of consultations we were on the same page.
One of the shrubs Jane requested to be removed was the Blue Spruce at the front door , I was happy with this decision.

A group of variegated Euonymus was also on the out list, even though it was beautiful, it just did not work with the new plan, and were too large to transplant.

The landscape did have some issues, but also a number of good plants that I felt could be used, just in another configuration. With this in mind she could save some money too by using some of the existing plant materials. People like to hear when they can save money.

There were other issues as well. The yard was shady on some sides, and sunny on others, the new plant material would have to work in both of these light situations

Some of the beds would have to be either eliminated, reshaped, down sized, and made more manageable.

Sod would be also added to reduce the size of some of the beds.

Stay in  touch so you can see the progress of this new landscape design, I'll be posting updates in the next couple of weeks.
